ICON is a new large scale public audio-visual work commissioned for the 50th anniversary of the opening of the inimitable Sydney Opera House. The work honours the incredible architecture – extruding it on 3-dimensional space across the harbour. I love the symmetry of this commission as it happened in my own 50th year. Made in collaboration with Genius Laser Technology. Huge thanks to Arthur and the team as always.
TRIPTYCH IS NOW LIVE AND TOURING
Triptych is my latest iconoclastic, audio visual space-time carving. The work brings together my two creative passions – electronic music and audio-visual mechanical synaesthesia. Using custom built hardware that splits the voltage creating the image to the audio realm the work achieves an almost impossible but also incredibly simple correlation between sound and image. As graphics created in Pangolin (laser display software) morph creating maelstroms of volumetric light the voltage making the image is simultaneously sonified. These moments of audio/visual synchresis are nested amongst vast sonic soundscapes and raw voltage glitch.

AQUA LUMA @ MONAFOMA 2021
2021 started with a blast with my new work AQUA LUMA featuring as part of Mona Foma in Launceston. The stunning Cataract Gorge was the backdrop to a work for 8 laser projectors and 4 controllable fountains. I loved making this work. Thanks to Genius Laser Technology for all of the assistance in making it happen.

“Robin Fox has crafted an exhilarating visually and sonically immersive sci-fi experience – a fathomlessly strange encounter with the future as essentially “other”, but also intimately of the moment. More people should get a chance to see it.”
“Diaspora is a piece of art so futuristic it feels less like an adaptation of science fiction and more like the kind of art characters in science fiction might watch themselves…simultaneously exciting and unsettling, inspiring and mysterious, triumphant and melancholy, just like the concept of the future itself ”
